Andy Forsberg 9th at Placerville Speedway Regular Season Finale
PETERSEN MEDIA: Checking in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the Forni/Humphreys Classic, Andy Forsberg and the PHR Racing team earned fast time honors to start the night before closing the points season out with a ninth-place finish in the feature event.
“It was kind of a disappointing end to the night after starting with so much promise,” Andy Forsberg said. “I felt really good in hot laps, qualifying, and our heat race, but the feature event we just weren’t very good and couldn’t get much of anything going.”
A total of 31 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway for the track’s final event of their championship schedule, and Forsberg kicked the night off by timing the PHR/Wilkie Masonry/Western Traffic Supply backed No. 92 in fastest overall in qualifying time trials.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver showcased a very strong car as he quickly advanced into the second position and began tracking down early leader, Jake Morgan. Closing in on Morgan, Forsberg had a run of momentum but Morgan was able to change his line and keep Forsberg in second which is where he finished.
Advancing into the redraw based on his qualifying effort and heat race finish, the eight pill placed the Auburn, CA driver in the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap finale.
When the race came to life, Forsberg tried to mimic the same success he had in his heat race, but wasn’t quite able to match his performance. Slipping back to 10th as the race came to life, Forsberg continued to rip around the cushion looking to work his way forward.
Unable to mount a charge through the field, Forsberg was able to pick up a couple of spots late in the race as he took advantage of some others misfortune and closed the night out with a ninth-place finish.
“I really felt great all night long, and thought we would be able to charge from eighth, but we just didn’t quite have the same car and the same speed we had earlier in the night,” Forsberg said. “We will be off this weekend before we return to action in a couple of weeks for the Fall Nationals.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
