Andy Forsberg Posts Pair of Top-10’s at Louie Vermeil Classic
PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending the weekend in Calistoga, CA for the annual Louie Vermeil Classic, Andy Forsberg and the PHR Racing team pocketed a pair of Top-10’s during the Sharktales with Andy 360 Cup portion of the event.
“We definitely weren’t great both nights, and I wished we could have run better but, in the end, we did still pick up a couple of Top-10’s,” Forsberg said. “I thought the overall event itself was great, and really feel like it was a good send off for the Hunt family.”
The racing action kicked off Saturday night for Forsberg and company as the Auburn, CA driver timed the Pacific Highway Rentals/Wilkie Masonry/Western Traffic Supply backed No. 92 in eighth fastest in time trials.
Moving into heat race/qualifier action, Forsberg’s fifth place finish put him in the fifth row for the opening night 25-lap feature event. When the feature event went green, the field filtered around the scenic ½ mile and Forsberg eventually settled into eighth.
Once the field got strung out, the race moved extremely fast. Going 25 non-stop laps, Forsberg capped the opener off with an eighth-place finish.
Returning to action on Sunday night for the finale, Forsberg kicked his night off by timing in ninth fastest on this night before recording a fifth-place finish in his heat race.
Moving into the 25-lap feature event, the Auburn, CA driver took the green flag from the ninth starting position. Just as it was on Saturday night, the 360 feature went off without a hitch as it again went nonstop. Settling into ninth as the race went green, the field again stretched out and there wasn’t a lot of opportunity for passing.
Keeping his mount inside the Top-10 all race long, Forsberg closed his weekend out with a ninth-place finish.
“Thanks to my team for their hard work all weekend,” Forsberg said. “Calistoga is just a unique place that forces everyone to work a little harder and I am thankful to have a solid group behind me.”
