Andy Forsberg Wins 4th Career Fall Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Forsberg and the PHR Racing team had another strong weekend. Taking part in the Fall Nationals in Chico, CA, Forsberg picked up a third place finish on Friday night and came back even better on Saturday night at he claimed his fourth career Fall Nationals crowd.

“After the six weeks or so we had, to have two great weekends in a row is really satisfying,” Andy Forsberg said. “Not only for me as a driver, but for the team behind me who has continued to work through the rough patch. It is also pretty cool to get a win in front of one of my biggest fans.”

Kicking the weekend off on Friday night for the opening night of the Fall Nationals, Forsberg got things underway by timing the Meridian Cameras/Oroville Tax/PHR backed No. 92 in fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver got a nice jump as he worked his way forward and finished third. By way of his finish, Forsberg not only locked into the opening night feature event but was also in the Dash due to his qualifying efforts.

Finishing fourth in the Dash, Forsberg rolled off the starting grid from the outside of the second row for the 30-lapper. Slipping back to fifth in the opening stanzas of the race, Forsberg worked his way into fourth on the restart with 11 laps to go in the race.

The next lap he overtook third as he chased after the lead duo of Landon Brooks and Dominic Groden. Unable to make a run at the top two in the final laps, Forsberg capped the opening night of the weekend off with a third place run.

Back in action for Saturday night’s Fall Nationals finale which also served as the season finale for Silver Dollar Speedway, Forsberg kicked the night off by timing in sixth quickest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up on the front row his Saturday night heat race, Forsberg got the jump and took the early lead. Wiring the field from start to finish, Forsberg was again in both the feature event as well as the Dash where the one pill put him on the pole of the six lap shootout.

Leading all six laps in the Dash, Forsberg found himself on the pole of the 35-lap Fall Nationals feature event. When the race went green, Forsberg quickly raced out to the early lead before a red flag was needed for a fan emergency on the seventh lap.

After the extended stoppage, Forsberg was back on the loud pedal as he raced out front with a torrid battle behind him. A couple of additional stoppages slowed the pace, and in the race’s closing laps Forsberg found himself in a hotly contested battle with Shane Golobic.

With Golobic throwing a pair of pass attempts at him, Forsberg was able to negate the efforts and score his 10th win of the season.

“Just happy to get back up front and getting this team back in victory lane and at a race that means a lot to many of us,” Forsberg added. “Thanks to Paul, Brian, Kelli, Jack, and everyone that was up in our pit area all weekend helping us out.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
