Ashton Torgerson 2nd at Bike Week Jamboree Finale
PETERSEN MEDIA- Ashton Torgerson turned heads on Monday night as the series rookie turned in an impressive feature event at Volusia Speedway Park and tallied a second-place finish with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’.
“Overall, it was a really good weekend for our team,” Ashton Torgerson said. “I felt like we had great speed both nights, and making both dashes is huge with this format.”
Kicking the final two nights at Volusia Speedway Park off on Sunday, Torgerson timed the Shark Racing entry in sixth quickest before finishing second in heat race competition.
Locking into the Dash, Torgerson drew the three in the draw, and his sixth-place finish put him on the outside of the third row on a track that was very fast and locked down.
When the race went green, Torgerson settled into seventh as he ripped around the ‘World’s Fastest Half Mile’, and hung strong inside the Top-10. When the fast-paced race came to an end, Torgerson capped the night off with a seventh-place finish.
Back in action on Monday night for a final night of action for the season at VSP, Torgerson timed in second fastest in time trials, and went on to win his heat race and punch his ticket into another Dash.
Finishing sixth in the Dash, Torgerson was set to take the green flag form the outside of the third row on a very slick and technical racing surface; a surface that Shark Racing has performed well on over the years.
When the race went green, Torgerson jumped into fifth, before he moved into fourth at the halfway point. Using the bottom of the speedway to his liking, Torgerson worked into third with five to go and rapidly closed in on the lead duo. Getting my Carson Macedo on the 24th lap to take over second, Torgerson closed in on race leader, Anthony Macri, but simply did not have enough time to cut into his lead.
With the checkered flag in the air, Torgerson capped the weekend off with a very impressive second place run.
“I am excited that the season picks up now, and I am looking forward to continuing to learn and fight night in and night out with the best in the business,” Torgerson added.
