PETERSEN MEDIA- Ashton Torgerson and the Shark Racing team had a very good Labor Day Weekend at Lincoln Speedway as they initially won the Saturday night feature, only to be DQ’d at the scales and came back and ran second in Sunday night’s feature.

“It was a really good weekend for the Shark Racing team aside from being too light at the scales on Saturday night,” Ashton Torgerson said. “We had a really fast car both nights and I was proud of our effort coming back and running second on Sunday.”

Kicking the weekend off on Saturday night, Torgerson timed in sixth quickest in qualifications and that placed him on the front row of his heat race. When heat race action came to light, Torgerson flexed his muscle as he jumped out to the lead.

Keeping the field at bay, Torgerson picked up the win and then found himself on the pole of the 35-lap feature event.

Slipping back to third for two laps when the feature went green, Torgerson moved back into second as he chased after race leader, Anthony Macri. Continuing to run in the second position for much of the race, close quarters action for the lead saw Torgerson come out of a tight spot on the 30^th lap.

Able to lead the final six laps, Torgerson took the checkered first but at the scales his Shark Racing entry came up light of the minimum weight requirement and he was disqualified.

Despite the win being taken away, Torgerson and company knew they had a very fast racecar and were back for more on Sunday for the Labor Day Duel finale at Lincoln Speedway.

Timing in fifth fastest in time trials on Sunday, Torgerson again took car of business from the front row of his heat race as he powered to the win for the second consecutive night and lined up in the second row of the feature event.

Getting into second as the race came to life, Torgerson began his pursuit of Chase Dietz who had a very torrid pace going out front. Holding down second for the duration of the race, Torgerson capped his Labor Day weekend off with a runner up finish as he now turns his attention to Port Royal Speedway and the Tuscarora 50.
