Ashton Torgerson and Shark Racing 9th at Creek County
PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending the weekend in Oklahoma with Shark Racing and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, Ashton Torgerson bounced back from a mechanical failure induced DNF on Friday night, to pick up a 9th place finish on Saturday night.
“Friday night we just had bad luck from the start of the night, and it continued with a mechanical failure causing us to DNF in the feature,” Ashton Torgerson said. “Saturday night, we were fast all night but a couple of untimely yellows in the feature hindered us a little bit.”
Putting the issues of Friday night behind them, Torgerson and company were very fast on Saturday night at Creek County Speedway.
Going out early in Flight B of time trials, Torgerson earned quick time honors aboard the Pells Tire Service/Newman’s Racing Engines/Moxzy backed No. 1A.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Glendale, AZ driver took full advantage of the prime starting position and powered his way to the win which not only locked him into the feature event, but also put him in the all-important Dash.
Picking up a seventh place finish in the Dash, Torgerson was locked into the fourth row of the 40-lap feature event. Keeping himself well inside the Top-10 over the course of the race, Torgerson would get as high as seventh, but caution flags were not on his side on this night as they seemed to slow the race each time he got into a rhythm.
Holding on to the ninth spot in the final green flag run of the race, Torgerson capped off a great showing with his sixth Top-10 of the season with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’.
