Ashton Torgerson Closes 2026 Chili Bowl in ‘C’ Main

PETERSEN MEDIA- Teaming back up with Keith Kunz Motorsports to take part in another Chili Bowl, Ashton Torgerson had a good prelim night going on Thursday night, but a couple of mistakes ultimately put him in a Saturday night ‘C’ Main.

“We had a really good prelim night going, but a couple of mistakes proved costly and really changed the course of our week,” Ashton Torgerson said. “It wasn’t the way I wanted it to go, but I am thankful to have had another opportunity to run with Keith Kunz Motorsports.”

Hitting the track on Thursday night in the Safety Kleen backed No. 67A, the Glendale, AZ driver lined up on the outside of the fourth row for heat race competition. Needing to make up points to make a qualifier, Torgerson did just that as he carved his way forward and picked up a third-place finish.

Having a very healthy points total after heat races, Torgerson was in the second row of his qualifier and his fourth to first run surged him up the points list to second which placed him on the front row for the 30-lap feature event, with two Saturday night lock in spots up for grabs.

When the feature went green, Torgerson did not get the jump he needed as he quickly slipped back to fifth and needed to settle in to make up lost ground. As he continued to find a way forward, Torgerson would get out of shape a on a pair of occasions and slipped back to 10th where he went on to finish.

With the 10th place finish, Torgerson was locked into a Saturday night ‘C’ where he would need to eat a little soup to race into the Chili Bowl Nationals feature event.

Hitting the track for C No. 2 on Saturday night, Torgerson took the green flag from the fifth starting position, in a great spot to battle for a transfer into the second Saturday night ‘B’.

As the race came to life, Torgerson battled hard for a transfer position as he looked very strong in his KKM entry. At the race’s halfway point, however, his Chili Bowl took a big hit as he was collected in a tangle and it essentially brought his week to an abrupt close.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-2, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-1

ON TAP: Ashton Torgerson now turns his attention to his Rookie attempt with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series which will kick off on February 4th at Volusia Speedway Park.
