Ashton Torgerson Makes Las Vegas Dirt Track Debut

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting his first taste of the Las Vegas Dirt Track half mile with High Limit Racing over the weekend, Ashton Torgerson endured engine issues during the scheduled opener on Thursday night, which led to a tough go on Saturday night as he was a bit under powered for the high speed facility.

Checking in at the Las Vegas Dirt Track on Thursday for the scheduled High Light Racing opener, Torgerson endured engine woes amidst the qualifying and hot lap session before the race ultimately got cancelled for weather.

Returning the track on Saturday with clear skies, Torgerson and the Snow Racing team were forced to a back up power plant which wasn’t quite up to speed for the half mile let alone the fast track conditions.

Focused on getting good laps in the winged car on the bigger track, the Glendale, AZ driver timed in 14th fastest in qualifying on Saturday night which lined him up in the fourth row of his heat race.

Doing all he could on the hooked up and fast surface, Torgerson’s eighth place finish put him in the seventh row of the ‘B’, where he needed to finish inside the Top-4 to move into the feature event.

Though unable to get going in the ‘B’ to challenge for a transfer spot, Torgerson was able to log valuable laps on the ½ mile as he was able to work in dirty air and search around to try a few different lines.

When all was said and done in Vegas, Torgerson ended up 14th in the semi.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-8, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-4
