Ashton Torgerson Nets Top-10 with Three Stooges Racing at Angell Park Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to get his footing with Three Stooges Racing, Ashton Torgerson had his best showing to date with the team as he picked up an eighth-place finish on Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway.
“We are still trying to find a balance with the car, and I am still trying to get comfortable, but we are definitely getting better,” Ashton Torgerson said. “Mix that in with getting to some new tracks and it is definitely a bit of an uphill battle, but I am happy to get a Top-10 on Sunday.”
Checking in at Angell Park Speedway on Sunday night for the Ted Johnson Memorial, Torgerson timed the IPC/Moxzy backed No. 51 in 10th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Torgerson made a couple of big moves that were crucial to the rest of the night as he surged to a second-place finish and locked himself into the nightly Dash.
Taking the green from fifth in the Dash, Torgerson worked his way forward to a fourth-place finish and put the Three Stooges Racing entry in the second row of the feature event.
As the 40-lap affair came to life, Torgerson got held up on the start as he fell back to seventh. Keeping his car well inside the Top-10 all night long, Torgerson raced into sixth at one point but spent much of the first half of the race holding down the seventh spot.
Continuing to battle inside the Top-10, Torgerson slipped to ninth on the 32nd lap, but was able to race back into eighth on a lap 35 restart which is where he went on to cap his weekend off.
Saturday night the series took to the Plymouth Dirt Track where the Arizona driver had a tough qualifying draw and ultimately lined up in the fourth row of his heat race.
A sixth-place finish in his heat then saw Torgerson finish third in the Last Chance Showdown which was enough to move him into the feature event.
Taking the green flag from the 23rd starting position, Torgerson went to work and climbed towards the Top-15. Working his way forward, Torgerson capped Saturday night off with a 15th place finish.
“Saturday night we had a good car, we just got off to a really slow start to the night,” he added. “Fortunately, we raced into the feature, and had some good laps and moved forward. I really want to thank the West family for all of their hard work and support.”
