Becker Kicks High Limit Swing Off By Racing Into Placerville Feature
PETERSEN MEDIA- Kicking off a NorCal swing with High Limit Racing on Saturday night, Sean Becker raced into the first feature event of the week at Placerville Speedway where he picked up a 22nd place finish.
“Saturday was interesting,” Sean Becker said. “On one hand it was great to race into the High Limit feature, but on the other we were disappointed with our showing. The good thing is we have another shot this weekend at the Gold Cup Race of Champions.”
Heading to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to battle with the Kubota USA High Limit Racing series, Becker got his night kicked off by timing the Bjork Construction/Kaeding Performance No. 7B in ninth fastest in his qualifying flight.
With 40 cars checked into the pit area, the split qualifying session then placed Becker in the third row of heat race no. 1. When the green flag flew, ‘The Shark’ settled into the fifth and final transfer position as he chased after Justin Sanders and Danny Sams who ran just ahead of him.
Hanging on to finish fifth, Becker locked into the feature event, though had his work cut out of himself as he locked into the 19th starting position for the 35-lap finale.
Mired deep in the field when the race went green, Becker found himself battling between 18th and 20th much of the night as a few cautions sprinkled through the race made it tough to get a run going from deep in the field.
Falling as far back as 24th at the halfway portion of the race, Becker was able to get back into 22nd on a late restart where he went on to finish.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-27, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 6, Top-10’s- 17
ON TAP: Becker and the Bjork Motorsports team now head to Chico, CA for the 71st Gold Cup Race of Champions. They will run in Wednesday’s 360ci event before hitting the track with High Limit Racing on Thursday and Saturday.
