Braden Chiaramonte 2nd at Watsonville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Back in action over the weekend, Braden Chiaramonte stopped in at Watsonville Speedway where he ran 2nd on Friday night before picking up a 9th place finish at Ventura Raceway on Saturday.

“Friday night I felt really good, and was able to rebound after making a mistake in the feature,” Braden Chiaramonte said. “Saturday night we timed in really well, but the rest of the night we just couldn’t get our car to where we needed it.”

Timing in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials, Chiaramonte found himself on the front row of his heat race where he needed to pick up the win to transfer into the redraw.

Taking a like to the newly configured Watsonville Speedway, Chiaramonte jumped into the early lead and never looked back. With the win, Chiaramonte then found himself on the pole of the feature event.

When the race came to life, the El Cajon, CA driver didn’t quite get the start he had hoped for as a bit of a bobble saw him slip back to fourth. Able to settle in and move into third, Chiaramonte turned his attention to second running Andy Forsberg.

Continuing to run third, Chiaramonte was able to pounce on the second position as Forsberg slipped up in front of him. Once in second, he closed in on race leader, Landon Henry, but didn’t quite have enough to overtake him and took the runner up finish as he then turned his attention to Saturday night action in Ventura, CA.

Shedding the wings and getting back into Southern CA on Saturday night, Chiaramonte got off to a quick start as he earned fast time honors in qualifying.

Lining up on the pole of his heat Chiaramonte simply struggled to maintain his track position. Slipping back to a fifth-place finish, he moved into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 9th starting position.

In the feature event, Chiaramonte was able to move forward a bit, but in the end he settled for a ninth place finish in the feature.

“After a weekend off, it was great to back in the car and have some success,” he said. “Hoping we can get back up to Watsonville, CA this weekend.”
