Braden Chiaramonte 8th at Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial

PETERSEN MEDIA: Travelling to Wheatland, MO over the weekend to take part in the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway, Braden Chiaramonte overcame fuel line issues on Friday night, and finished eighth in the Saturday night feature event.

“I was really happy with how things felt with it being the first time we had our 410ci in our winged car,” Braden Chiaramonte said. “We had really good speed both nights, and despite the fuel line issues on Friday, we were all happy with how the weekend went.”

Qualifying fourth in his group on Friday night before a second-place finish in his heat race, Chiaramonte locked into the opening night feature event where he took the green flag from the outside of the seventh row.

Moving into the feature event, Chiaramonte endured fuel line issues on the eighth lap that resulted in a small fire, which crews reacted to extremely fast, and ultimately ended his night prematurely.

Returning to the speedway on Saturday night, Chiaramonte again got off to a nice start to the night as he timed in third quickest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the El Cajon, CA drier settled into second as the field was shown the green. Holding second all race long, Chiaramonte locked himself into the Hockett/McMillin Memorial feature event as he took the green flag from the ninth starting spot.

In the opening laps of the feature event, Chiaramonte did not get off to the start that he hoped for, as he found himself all the way back in 12th as the field shuffled out around the track.

Once he was able to settle into the flow of the feature, Chiaramonte was able to work back into 11th on the 14th lap, and then was able to work his way into 10th in the closing laps after some hard fought battles in traffic.

Getting into eighth on the 29th lap, Chiaramonte was able to cap his weekend off with a hard fought Top-10.

“It was a great weekend for us, and I learned a ton with it being the first weekend we ran the 410ci in our family car (winged),” Chiaramonte said. “Despite slipping back early in the race, I was happy to get going and work back into the Top-10.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 39, Wins- 1, Top 5’s- 10, Top 10’s- 17

ON TAP: Chiaramonte will be off this weekend and is slated to return to action October 4th at Mohave Valley with USAC/CRA.
