Braden Chiaramonte Scores Pair of Top-10’s with USAC/CRA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to showcase his versatility and bounce between winged and non-winged sprint cars, Braden Chiaramonte had a very nice showing with the USAC/CRA Series in Arizona over the weekend that saw him pick up sixth and eighth-place finishes.

“It was a really good weekend for us in Arizona,” Chiaramonte said. “We had great speed from start to finish, and had two really good finishes.”

Heading to Central AZ Speedway in Casa Grande, AZ, Chiaramonte got the weekend kicked off by timing in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, the El Cajon, CA runner had his elbows up as he worked his way forward and earned a third-place finish which kept him in the inversion for the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the inside of the third row, Chiaramonte battled hard during the 30-lapper as he raced with the likes of Cale Coons, Bruce St. James, and Ricky Lewis.

Getting into the Top-5 just before the race’s halfway point, Chiaramonte got into fourth on the 23rd lap, and amidst some intense racing in the final laps slipped back to a sixth-place finish.

Returning to action on Saturday night, Chiaramonte continued to show a ton of speed as he again laid down a great lap in time trials and ended up fourth quickest overall.

Racing from fifth to second in his heat race, Chiaramonte lined up in the second row for the final 30-lap feature event of the weekend.

As the race came to life, Chiaramonte lost a few spots as he slipped back to sixth as the field filtered out around Central AZ Speedway. Working his way into fifth on the 8th lap, more spirited battles saw him lose the spot on the 12th circuit as he slipped back into sixth.

Keeping his nose to the grindstone, Chiaramonte found himself in another battle for 5th on the 18th lap, as he went back and forth for the next five laps, before slipping to 7th.

Keeping his car inside the Top-10, Chiaramonte did lose a position on the final lap as he capped the weekend off with an eighth-place finish.
