Chance Grasty 6th at Watsonville Before Heart Break at Santa Maria Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- A busy weekend for Chance Grasty and the F&F Racing team saw Grasty pick up a sixth-place finish on Friday night at Watsonville Speedway before enduring heart break on Saturday night while battling for his first career NARC win at Santa Maria Speedway.

“We had a ton of speed all weekend, and Saturday night we were in a really good spot to pick up our first NARC win, but I just made a terrible mistake in traffic got upside down late in the race,” Grasty said. “I feel terrible for my team because they deserved to be on the front stretch celebrating.”

Saturday night, Santa Maria Speedway played host to the second half of a NARC coastal doubleheader weekend, and Grasty got off to a great start as he earned quick time honors in qualifying aboard the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed No. x1 entry.

Pocketing a third-place finish in heat race action, Grasty moved into the Dash where he win put him on the pole of the 30-lap feature event as he chased after his first career NARC triumph.

On a very fast Santa Maria Speedway surface, the Suisun City, CA driver jumped out to the lead and began setting a very strong pace out front.

Continuing to click off laps, Grasty soon found the rear of the field and began the lapping process. On the 20th lap, Grasty’s night drastically changed as contact in traffic saw Grasty give up the lead as he got upside down and was forced into the work area.

Even though dejected, Grasty was able to restart the race after the F&F Racing team made some swift repairs in the work area and managed to salvage an 11th place finish.

The weekend opened up for the team on Friday night as they headed to Watsonville Speedway. Timing in fifth fastest in time trials, Grasty won his heat, won his Dash, and led the field to green.

Jumping out to the early lead, Grasty soon felt pressure from Tim Kaeding. Holding Kaeding off for a few laps, Grasty gave up the top spot on the 6th lap, and actually slipped back to third.

Holding his own inside the Top-5 a late restart saw Grasty slip up and fall to sixth where he ultimately went on to finish.

“Friday night we were also really good, I just lost a couple of spots trying something and got out of rhythm,” Grasty said. “Saturday night, I knew I needed to make a move in traffic, but as I went to slide he ended up running the bottom, which nobody had been doing, and I just had too much momentum and clip the rear of his car.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Sierra Single Ply Roofing, Triple X Race Co., Wrayvon, CRV Carbon Solutions, Econo Lube ‘N’ Tune, XC Gear, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
