Chance Grasty and F&F Racing Battle Gremlins at Silver Cup
PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading into the Silver Cup in Chico, CA over the weekend fresh off of a win at Stockton Dirt Track, Chance Grasty and the F&F Racing team were eager to see how they stacked up at the famed ¼ mile but unfortunately the team fought gremlins all weekend long.
“I had high expectations for us heading into the weekend, but we were riddled with gremlins all weekend long,” Grasty said. “Everyone worked hard to get the issues sorted out, but we just couldn’t seem to get ahead of it.”
Friday night kicked off the two-nights of action at Silver Dollar Speedway and Grasty timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Sierra Single Ply Roofing backed No. x1 entry in 10th fastest in qualifying time trials.
While it was a good start to the weekend, the issues followed as Grasty slipped back to finish sixth in his heat race after lining up in the second row, and with the finish he found himself on the front row of the ‘B’.
Getting the jump from the pole of the ‘B’, Grasty went on to pick up thew in and lock himself into the opening night feature event. Gridding the field from the 16th starting position, Grasty only lasted a few laps before his night ended with a 19th place finish.
Back in action on Saturday night, the Suisun, CA driver was the first car on the track for time trials, and ended up 16thquickest in the session. Again finishing sixth in heat race, Grasty was forced into the ‘B’, where issues followed him again and he was unable to race his way into the Saturday night feature event.
“It was a bummer to have a rough weekend, and but I really want to thank Alan, Tooch, Dan, Terry, Ryan, and Mike for all their hard work and for not giving up,” Grasty added. “It was unfortunate we couldn’t get the issues solved but it was not for lack of effort. I also want to thank all of our valued partners for their continued support of our team.”
