Chiaramonte Fights Gremlins in Tulare, CA
PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip to Tulare, CA over the weekend to take on the NARC King of the West Series, Braden Chiaramonte and his team fought some gremlins during their first winged race of the season.
“It was a bit of an up and down night for us, and unfortunately we dealt with some gremlins,” Braden Chiaramonte said. “I felt really comfortable when things were right, so we definitely took some positives away from the night.”
Checking into Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday night to take on the stars and cars of NARC, Chiaramonte timed in 24th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up eighth in heat race, the El Cajon, CA driver was able to get his elbows up and power his way into a transfer position. Racing into sixth, Chiaramonte was able to hold on to the spot which moved him directly into the 30-lap NARC feature event.
Gridding the field from the 18th starting position, Chiarmonte was forced to make a trip to the work area when the caution flew on the second lap as he had a MSD Box fail on him.
With his team able to make a swap, the 19-year-old pilot was able to restart from the 23rd starting position, and when the race came back to life he was able to work his way forward.
Getting up to 17th at the race’s halfway point, Chiaramonte continued to battle hard on the very racy Thunderbowl Raceway. As the laps clicked off and the race neared it’s ending, Chiaramonte started to lose power and opted to call it a night.
“We got going pretty good after we changed our box in the feature,” Chiaramonte said. “Unfortunately I felt our engine start to loser power and pulled into the infield. We’re not quite sure what the issue is yet, but we will get it figured out and get ready for Chico, CA.”
