Dakota Albright 2nd at Antioch
PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of a fourth place finish at hi season opening event a few weeks back, Dakota Albright did some homework prior to Saturday’s event at Antioch Speedway and it paid off as the Waterford, CA driver picked up a second place finish.
“We tried a few things for Saturday’s race at Antioch, and I think they worked really well for us,” Albright said.
From the time the backdoor of the trailer dropped, Albright had a ton of speed aboard the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/Johnson and Matos CPA’s/Greenwood Machine and Fab backed No. 35jr.
Timing in third fastest in qualifying time trials, the Waterford, CA driver lined up on the front row of his heat race. From the outside pole position, Albright raced his way into the lead and never looked back.
Grabbing the heat race win, Albright moved into the feature event where he then gridded the field from the outside of the second row for the 20-lapper.
When the race came to life, Albright continued to show that same speed he had early in the night as he marched into third and began to challenge the lead duo as they field raced around the bay area facility.
While in third early and felling very good, as the race went on the track continued to get even better and it caused Albright’s mount to tighten up on him as he lost a little of that early speed.
Holding down the third spot for the duration of the race, a move on the last lap saw Alrbight take second as the field was shown the checkered flag.
“The track stayed really good all night, and we just got too tight as the feature went on,” Albright noted. “We were good all night, so I can’t complain. Good start to the year with a pair of Top 5’s.”
Dakota Albright would like to thank Thompson’s Family of Dealerships, Johnson and Matos CPA’s, Greenwood Machine and Fabrication, 530 Wraps, Oval Chassis Research, Parker Performance and Fabrication, Romey’s Window Cleaning, Nurcher Milk, Angels Heavy Haul, West Steel and Plastics, Calhot Powder Coating, Sala Racing, Petersen Media, and Simpson Race Products for their support in 2025.
