Dakota Albright 3rd at Placerville Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Shedding the wings and heading to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Dakota Albright had another good showing at the famed ¼ mile bullring as he picked up a third-place finish in the feature event.
“We had a pretty good car all night on Saturday, but in the feature, I just couldn’t get going on the cushion like I normally am able to and didn’t have anything for the leader,” Albright said.
Running a draw show format on Saturday, Albright lined up on the front row of his heat race. When the Ed Entz green flag flew, the Waterford, CA driver was hard on the throttle as he powered into the early lead.
Never looking back, Albright picked up the win which put him in the second row of the impending 20-lap feature event.
As the feature event came to life, Albright jumped into second as he began to chase after the early race leader, Greg Dennett, who set a very strong pace out front. Continuing to run in second, Albright soon found himself in a spirited battle with Matt Land as the duo jockeyed for the second position.
Losing the spot briefly on the 10th lap, Albright was back in second on the 11th lap but the war still waged on. With Dennett out of the picture, Albright had his hands full with Land. In the race’s closing laps, Land was able to get the second spot for good as Albright closed the night out on the podium with a third-place finish.
“I was really trying everything I could to keep pace with Greg Dennett but he was a much better car on this night,” Albright said. “I had some fun battling for second and just lost the spot there at the end of the race. Thanks to my guys for always working hard, and our partners for supporting our racing efforts.”
