DeCaires Back in Skagit Speedway Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to action following a week off at Skagit Speedway, Bubba DeCaires continued to run well at the famed northwest facility as he picked up an eighth-place finish on Saturday night.

“Since we ended up hurting our primary motor during our last race out, we had a different engine in and we still seemed to run well,” DeCaires said. “There were a couple of things we need to address but I think we will have a better baseline with it when we get back to racing in a couple of weeks.”

Timing the Morrison Concrete/Max Sells powered by Red Leaf Realty/High Sierra Industries backed No. 94 in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Elk Grove, CA driver got a great start in his heat initially as he powered into the lead, but the start was waived off and he was forced to try again.

Not having the same fortune on the second attempt, DeCaires settled into third as the field marched through turns one and two. Holding the third position, DeCaires moved directly into feature event where he lined up in the seventh starting position.

When the race came to life, DeCaires settled into eighth as he joined the rest of the field as they ripped around the cushion which had a lot of moisture and was undoubtedly the best line on the track.

Keeping himself solidly inside the Top-10, DeCaires went on to close his night out with an eighth-place finish.

“With everyone ripping around the top, it was just tough to make up ground as we got spaced out but I felt really good,” DeCaires said. “We kept tuning on this engine, and got it pretty close to where it needs to be, so I we should be set up nicely when we get back out to Skagit on the 27th.”

DeCaires would like to thank Morrison Concrete, Max Sells powered by Red Leaf Realty, High Sierra Industries, JLC Performance, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Wion’s Body Shop, and QuickCar Racing Products for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-4

ON TAP: DeCaires will be idle this week before returning to action at Skagit Speedway on June 27th.
