Engine Woes Plague Mariah Ede at HK Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting her weekend off to a strong start at Ocean Speedway on Friday night during the Howard Kaeding Classic, Mariah Ede dealt with engine issues on Saturday night which ultimately cut her weekend short.

“We got the weekend off to a really good start on Friday night, but on Saturday night we had issues that I fear will keep us on the sideline for a while,” Mariah Ede said.

Travelling to Watsonville, CA for the HK Classic with NARC, Ede kicked the weekend off on Friday night as she timed the Pacific Boring/M&L Plumbing/Circle J5 Ranch backed No. 14 entry in sixth quickest in qualifications.

Lining up on the front row of her heat race, the Fresno, CA driver settled into second as the green flag few. Chasing after Tim Kaeding, Ede held down second where she went on to finish and locked into the opening night feature event.

Taking the green flag from the outside of the sixth row for the feature event, Ede was a little off as the track quickly blew off and became extremely slick. Amidst numerous stoppages, Ede did what she could to maintain but slowly drifted back as the race neared the finish.

When the checkered flag flew over the feature, Ede crossed in the 18th spot as her and her team then turned their attention to Saturday night’s finale.

Getting off to another good start to the night, Ede timed in eighth fastest in time trials which then put her in the second row of her heat race. Navigating a slick surface in heat race action, Ede’s night came to an end as the heat drew to a close.

Enduring engine issues, Ede slowed as he was unable to finish the heat and needed a push back to her pit area.

As the team took the hood off of her Ede Racing mount, the damage was too much to continue on with the night and their weekend was over.

“It is super frustrating to have our second engine go down in a month,” Ede added. “It’s unfortunate that we will miss some 410 races moving forward, and I am just hopeful we can get one back soon so we can hit some of these big races that are coming up.”

Mariah Ede and the Mariah Ede Racing team would like to thank Pacific Boring, M&L Plumbing, Circle J5 Ranch, FK Rod Ends, and MetTec Titanium for their support.
