Friday Night Win Highlights Busy Weekend for Ashton Torgerson
PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite weather altering his originally planned schedule over the weekend, Ashton Torgerson still found a way to stay busy as he picked up a win on Friday night in the Ten-J house car before competing at Placerville Speedway on Friday night in winged 360ci action.
Competing in the winged and non-winged outlaw classes at Plaza Park in Visalia, CA, Ashton Torgerson had great speed in both cars.
Non-winged action saw the Glendale, AZ driver get off to a quick start to the night as he timed in sixth quickest, before racing his way to a heat race win.
Moving into the non-winged feature event, Torgerson lined up in the third row and wasted no time racing his way forward. Getting into second, he began to apply pressure on the leader, his older brother Austin.
Getting to his brother on few occasions, Torgerson was unable to make any moves for the top spot stick as he capped the race off with a second-place finish.
In winged action Torgerson was equally as good all night as he opened things up by earning quick time honors in time trials after going out very late in the session.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, a third place finish again put Torgerson in the third row of the feature event. On a racy surface, he continued to march his way forward as he did in the non winged feature and soon was in second place as he found himself chasing after Jett Yantis.
Looking to be on his way to a second runner up finish of the night, Torgerson made a last-ditch effort in the final corners on the final lap to sneak past Jett Yantis and steal the win coming to the checkered flag.
Shifting gears and turning his attention back to the sprint car on Saturday night, Torgerson and the Snow Motorsports team made the trip to Placerville Speedway to take part in the track’s weekly series.
With 35 cars in the pit area, Torgerson timed the Safety-Kleen backed No. 7 entry in 10th quickest in his qualifying flight before lining up fifth in his heat.
Running fourth, Torgerson was locked into the 25-lap feature event as he rolled off the starting grid from the 15th starting position.
Slipping back to 19th when the race came to life, Torgerson settled in as he made his first start of the season at the high banked bullring.
Racing into the Top-15 just past the halfway point in the fast paced feature event, Torgerson made a couple of moves in the race’s final laps to net a 12th place finish at the stripe.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-14, Wins- 1, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-6
