PETERSEN MEDIA: After a tough night at the New Zealand 50, Joel Myers Jr bounced back with vengeance on Saturday night as he paced the field at Baypark Speedway to claim the North Island Championship.

“It is a really fun time in NZ right now, and to win another title is great for the Daniel Anderson Racing team,” Joel Myers Jr said.

Lining up in the fourth row of his first heat race of the night, the Sebastopol, CA driver was able to get his The Ranch/Suck It Up No. 1NZ entry rolling as he worked his way to a third place finish.

The second row of heats saw the reigning NZ Champion line up in the second row as he was able to make quick work of the field and score the heat race win which was vital for the feature event line up.

Having the high point total of the night, the California native sat on the pole of the North Island Title feature event, and never looked back. When the race came to life, Myers set sail and quickly began opening up a comfortable gap on the rest of the field.

Working his way through traffic, Myers Jr was the clear class of the field on this night. With the end result never in doubt, Myers Jr was successful as he went on to capture the race win and claim the North Island Title.

“We were fast from start to finish, and put ourselves in a perfect spot for the feature event,” Joel Myers Jr added. “Starting on the pole, we got the jump and we never looked back. Great to get another win and build momentum as he head into the NZ Title and look to keep the 1NZ at DAR.”
