Landon Brooks Battles World of Outlaws in Stockton, CA
PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking on the World of Outlaws over the weekend in Stockton, CA, Landon Brooks and the Hamilton Racing with Tiner Hirst Ent. team showed their resolve during both nights of action as they scored 15th and 16thplace finishes.
“Friday night we didn’t get timed in well, but my guys went to work after qualifying and we were able to dig out of a hole,” Brooks said. “Saturday night, we were really good all night long, but I got caught up in a tangle and had to come from the back. I really am proud of our efforts to adapt when we need to find speed.”
Friday night, Brooks timed the Lippert Construction/THE/Mozingo Construction backed No. 21L in 33rd fastest and was in a very deep hole early in the night.
With his team making adjustments prior to heading out for heat race competition, the Rio Oso, CA driver was able to make a couple of big-time moves that propelled him into the fifth and final transfer spot and lock him into the 35-lap feature event.
Lining up 17th in the feature event, Brooks was off to a nice start in the feature event until contact on the sixth lap saw him get turned around which forced him to the back of the pack.
Able to restart with some damage, Brooks was able to move forward amidst a very wild and crazy feature event. Avoiding the chaos that went on around him, Brooks rebounded to a 15th place finish when the race drew to a close.
Returning to action on Saturday night, Brooks had a much better start to the night as he timed in 10th quickest in qualifying time trials before picking up a third-place finish in heat race competition.
Moving into the 40-lap Dennis Roth Classic feature event, Brooks quickly jumped into eighth when the race came to life. On a fast surface, he was running well in the Top-10 when bad luck again got him as he was collected in a tangle on the 12th lap and was forced to the back of the pack.
Able to restart, Brooks was able to gain some ground as he worked his way back up to 15th with five laps left in the race before settling for a 16th place finish when the feature came to a close.
“I really thought we had a car capable of running inside the Top-5 on Saturday,” Brooks added. “Unfortunately, we just got collected in another tangle. I really want to thank the Hamiltons, all of our great partners, as well as the guys who continue to work on this car week in and week out.”
