Landon Brooks Caps 2026 Chili Bowl Off In ‘B’ Main

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals with Matt Wood Racing, Landon Brooks had another strong showing that saw him cap the prestigious event off in the Saturday night ‘B’ Main.

“It was another really fun Chili Bowl with the Matt Wood Racing team,” Landon Brooks said. “I love all of the people that we get to spend the week with, and other than locking in Saturday’s feature event it was a great week.”

Getting his first taste of the Tulsa Expo Raceway on Monday during the Race of Champions, Brooks was set for his qualifying attempt on Tuesday night aboard the Lipper Construction/Hamilton Racing/THE backed No. 57W.

Drawing the outside third row starting position in his heat race, the Rio Oso, CA driver got off to a great start as he worked his way forward to a third-place finish.

Making himself eligible for a spot in a nightly qualifier, Brooks rolled off the starting grid from the third position looking for more points to ultimately improve his feature event starting position.

Jumping into second when the race went green, nightly points are so tight each night, Brooks would have earned the front row for the feature event had he been able to pick up one more spot and win the qualifier, but settling for a runner up finish he found himself 11th for the Tuesday night feature event.

From the outside of the sixth row, Brooks went to work on the tight confines of the Tulsa Expo Raceway. Working his way forward, Brooks was able to pick up track position lap by lap as he inched closer to a Saturday night lock in spot.

Racing his way up to fifth when the checkered flag dropped, Brooks wasn’t quite able to lock into Saturday’s big dance, but was in a great position to battle for a transfer berth as he was locked into one of the twin ‘B’ Mains.

Watching how the rest of the week unfolded, Brooks was back in action on Saturday night with the ‘A’ Main on his mind.

Taking the green flag for the ‘B’, Brooks settled into eighth as he kept his eye on of the seven golden tickets into the feature event. Getting into seventh on the 11th lap, Brooks was back to ninth a lap later amidst a hotly contested battle for the final transfer position.

Doing all he could as he searched around the Expo Raceway; Brooks capped his weekend off with a ninth place finish.

“I just needed some things to go better on my qualifying night to set myself up better on Saturday, but still I was really happy with how the car felt and how the MWR team performed,” Brooks added. “I really want to thank everyone that helped all week long, and makes the MWR team what it is. I am really thankful to have such great people around me.”

Landon Brooks would like to thank Lippert Construction, Hamilton Racing, Matt Wood Racing, Keizer Wheels, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, and Shane Golobic Composites for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 2, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 1
