Mariah Ede 12th During First Start in New Zealand

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip to New Zealand to take part in the two week ‘USA Invasion’, Mariah Ede made her first two starts in New Zealand over the weekend at Central Motor Speedway in Cromwell, NZ where she finished 12th on Saturday night.

“First and foremost, the people in New Zealand have been amazing and it has been a really great trip so far,” Mariah Ede said. “Racing wise, our first night ended up getting called off in the feature due to visibility issues, and on Saturday night we had a really good night going but our right rear started going down and we stalled out in 12th.”

During Friday night action, Ede’s car had an issue and it resulted in her getting into the wall, which caused more damage. Unsure of their next move, Ede’s Scott Motorsports car owner quickly offered up his car, and Ede was set for the ‘B’.

Able to race her way into the feature, the night ended up being cut short as visibility issues on the track forced officials to cancel the duration of the night.

Back to Central Motor Speedway on Saturday night, the Fresno, CA driver picked up a seventh place finish in her first heat before running fifth in her second heat and locking into the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 14th starting position, Ede was able to slowly work her way forward as she adapted to the Central Motor Speedway, as well as the new car for Scott Motorsports during her two-week stint in NZ.

Getting into 12th just before a red flag slowed the action, when the race resumed Ede’s right rear began to lose air pressure. Doing a great job of hanging on to the 12th spot, Ede nursed her flat right rear tire home and capped the night off with a 12th place finish.

“No matter the bad luck in Saturday’s feature I had a great time meeting so many great new fans in NZ,” Ede said. “I really want to thank Shane, Jason, and my Dad for all of their hard work.”

Mariah Ede and the Mariah Ede Racing team would like to thank Pacific Boring, M&L Plumbing, Circle J5 Ranch, FK Rod Ends, and MetTec Titanium for their support.

ON TAP: Mariah Ede and Scott Motorsport head to Ruapuna Speedway this coming Friday and Saturday.
