Mariah Ede Picks Up Season Best Finish at Merced Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: A grueling start to the season has seen Fresno, CA’s Mariah Ede battle with both the NARC/KWS Series as well as High Limit, and despite some tough nights against some of the best in the business, it paid off for Ede on Saturday night as she picked up a season best 10th place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Merced, CA.

“I thought Saturday night went pretty well with it being our first 360ci race of the season after some extremely tough 410ci races to start the season,” Mariah Ede said. “Track conditions were tough early in the night, but we were able to make the right adjustments and put ourselves in a good position.”

A loaded pit area on Saturday night saw 43 cars checked in for the series’ second event of the 2025 season. Ede got her night off to good start as she timed the Pacific Boring/M&L Plumbing/Circle J5 Ranch backed no. 14 in eighth fastest in her qualifying flight which put her in the second row of her heat race.

On the very slick Merced Speedway surface, Ede was able to race into second as her heat fired off. Settling into the runner up position, Ede kept the spot when the checkered flag was displayed to the field as she was locked into the 35-lap feature event.

Watching the track change after a couple of track prep sessions over the course of the night with preliminary races and the Dash, Ede was set for action as she rolled off of the starting grid from the outside of the fifth row.

When the race came to life, Ede initially slipped back a few spots as she was back in 16th at one point in the first half of the race. As the feature event track prep blew off and the track slowed down, Ede was able to start working her way back towards the Top-10.

Getting into 13th as the feature reached the halfway point, the Fresno State student continued to work her way forward as time ran out.

Into 11th on the 26th lap, Ede cracked the Top-10 on the 27th marker as she found herself in an entertaining battle for position that came to an end when the red flag flew on the 32nd lap.

Restarting from 12th, Ede used a three-lap Dash to the finish to work her way back into 10th when the race came to a close.

“We were really competitive all night long, and I was proud that we locked into the feature with how many cars were checked in,” Ede added. “Our feature didn’t get off to a great start, but once the race got going I felt better with each lap and picked up a Top-10.”

Mariah Ede and the Mariah Ede Racing team would like to thank Pacific Boring, M&L Plumbing, Circle J5 Ranch, FK Rod Ends, and MetTec Titanium for their support.

ON TAP: Mariah Ede and company will return to action on Saturday night as they head stay close to home and travel to Tulare, CA for KWS/NARC 410ci action.
