PETERSEN MEDIA: Sitting out the last month with engine issues, Mariah Ede and her Mariah Ede Racing team were able to return to action in Chico, CA over the weekend as they took part in the Gold Cup Race of Champions with High Limit Racing.

“It was a scramble for us to get to the track with our motor finally showing up late Thursday,” Mariah Ede said. “We thrashed to get the motor in and fired before leaving from Fresno and we ended up fighting a few things all weekend long.”

Checking into Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday for her qualifying run at the 71^st Gold Cup Race of Champions, the Fresno, CA driver timed her Pacific Boring/M&L Plumbing/Circle J5 Ranch backed No. 14 in 20^th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Moving into heat race competition, Ede was able to secure one of the five feature event transfer berths as her fifth-place finish put her 20^th on the starting grid.

Settling into 20^th as the race got underway, Ede found herself racing with the likes of Daison Pursley and Brenham Crouch in a tightly contested battle.

Getting into 19^th, a green-white-checkered finish allowed Ede to gain another spot as he ended her night with a 17^th place finish.

Fighting to get their engine to run Friday night, the issues spilled over to Saturday with Chad Ede and Doug Watts both feverishly working under the hood of Ede’s mount.

Finishing seventh in her qualifier, Ede finally brought her weekend to a close with a 10^th place finish in the ‘C’.

“I really want to thank my Dad and Doug Watts for all of their hard work trying to get our engine figured out,” Ede said. “I was just thankful to get more laps against the High Limit Racing regulars even though our results weren’t great. Racing with them is just really valuable experience.”
