Allard Closes 2014 With 14th Overall Win

Allard 27th 1

PETERSEN MEDIA- Jonathan Allard spent his holiday competing at the WXC Speedway in Auckland, NZ, and after tough track conditions took center stage on Boxing Night, Allard came back and won for the final time in 2014 on Saturday night.

“We have been so fast in New Zealand already, it feels great to close 2014 out with a win.”

The scorching sun made for a blistery day in Auckland creating a very slick surface, that Allard took a liking to from the start of the night.

Picking up second and third place finishes in heat race action, Allard was the top point earner heading into the feature event, and lined his Porter Group/Hydraulink/NZ Ceiling and Drywall Supplies backed No. 0 machine up in the second row.

As the green lights flickered, the Chico, CA wheelman was hard on the throttle and quickly jumped into the second spot as he chased after New Zealand rival, Dan Brindle, who had the early advantage.

With Allard chasing after Brindle, Jamie McDonald had his sights set on Allard for the second spot, and was able to make a move on ‘JA’, only to have the 2014 Gold Cup Champion answer back with a cross over move.

Making the pass back for second, Allard kept his momentum and also got underneath McDonald, and went on to take the win, and close the 2014 calendar year in style.

Also in action on Boxing Day, a jam packed crowd was on hand for the annual event, but on this night, tricky track conditions caused for a lot of carnage, as well as uneventful racing.

Scoring fourth and second place finishes in heat race action, and again accumulating the most points, Allard pulled the six-inversion pill, putting him in the third row.

With the track continuing to go south, and becoming very narrow, Allard was able to pick up a fifth place finish, as well as keep his machine right side up.

“Friday night was a bit frustrating with the way the track was, but it was the same for everyone,” he said. “Saturday night it was slick, and a blast to run on. It was great to pass some tough cars and pick up another win.”

Allard would like to thank Porter Group, Hydraulink, Motul, New Zealand Ceiling and Drywall Supplies, Exide, and BDR Max for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-69, Wins-14, Top 5’s-34, Top 10’s-46.

ON TAP: Allard will now ring in 2015 by hitting the speedway on New Years Day.
