PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading into a Sprint Car Challenge Tour Double-Header weekend fresh off of a podium finish at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg rode the waive of momentum as he netted a career best third place finish with the SCCT Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.

“We had a really good car on Saturday night, and were in a good position all night,” Andy Forsberg said. “The way the race went, we kind of settled into third and held our ground for 35-laps.”

With 37 cars packed into the pit area on a scorcher of a night in Placerville, CA on Saturday night, the Auburn, CA driver would earn quick time honors in his group aboard the Econo Lube-N-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, Forsberg would flex his muscle early in the night as he would pick up the win, which made him eligible for the Dash. Utilizing the famed Jimmy Wall for his pill picking duties to set the feature event line up, Wall would come through as the one pill put Forsberg on the pole.

Taking advantage of the prime starting position, the Auburn, CA driver would pick up the win and put the F&F Racing entry on the pole for the 35-lap feature event. On a slick racing surface, Forsberg would lose the drag race into turn one as Justin Sanders grabbed the early lead as Kyle Hirst was also able to sneak by putting Forbserg back in third.

As the leaders got strung out, Forsberg would continue to hold down the third spot as they raced through traffic. As rubber went down on the speedway late in the race, he would reel in second running Hirst, but on this night, he would close his night out with a third place finish marking a career best with the new series.

Traveling to Petaluma Speedway on Sunday night for another round of SCCT action, Forsberg would get his night started out by timing in second fastest in his group which placed him in the second row for his heat race.

On an old school, hooked up and heavy Petaluma Speedway racing surface, passing would be extremely tough early in the night as Forsberg would finish fourth and find himself back in the 17th starting position for the 35-lap feature event.

Mired deep in the field in the feature, Forsberg would have a tough go at it as he struggled to make up ground. Getting forced high in the opening laps, Forsberg would see a few cars get by and he would find himself in a deeper hole.

Able to settle into a rhythm after getting back in the racing groove, Forsberg would pick up a couple of spots before his nose wing became dislodged from his machine.

With the missing nose wing creating handling issues, Forsberg’s mindset would change to survival mode amidst a wild feature that saw numerous stoppages. Able to maintain, Forsberg would close his night out with a 16th place finish.

“Sunday night we kind of got in the sucker spot in time trials, and our heat race finish put us pretty deep in the starting line up,” Forsberg added. “We just couldn’t really get going in the feature, and then when we lost the nose wing I was just hoping to stay in one piece. This speedweek deal is pretty fun, and I am looking forward to getting back to it this week. Thanks to the F&F guys for all of their hard work.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
