PETERSEN MEDIA- Andy Forsberg and the F&F Racing team continued to run well at Placerville Speedway over the holiday as Forsberg picked up a fifth place finish and extended his weekly points lead at the speedway.

“We had a really good car on Wednesday night, and the driver let the team down no doubt,” Andy Forsberg said. “We were definitely better than a fifth place car but the Top-Five is good and we will build off this heading back up there this week.”

The annual Fourth of July celebration at Placerville Speedway got underway with Forsberg timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes backed No. x1 machine in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver would finish third which would prove to be good enough to put him in the nightly redraw. Pulling the six pill, Forsberg would put the Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA/Lucas Oil machine in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.

On a slick and racy surface, Forsberg would spend much of the night battling for position inside the Top-Five. Unable to get going beyond fifth, the former track champion would close the holiday race out with his seventh Top-Five finish of the season in the F&F Racing mount.

After enjoying a fireworks display, the week continued on as the team followed the Sprint Car Challenge Tour to Stockton, CA on Saturday night for the third installment of the Tribute to LeRoy Van Connett in a tilt with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

A very slick surface greeted teams early in the night, and Forsberg would open his night up by timing in second fastest in his qualifying group which put him in the second row of his heat race.

With the surface continuing to slick off and become tricky to operate on, Forsberg would lose a few positions in the heat as his fifth place finish would still be good enough to put him in the feature event though he would be mired deep in the field as he rolled off the starting grid from the 18th starting position.

While crews worked hard to create a better surface for the feature event, it would still be tricky to gain ground though ‘Mr. Excitement would do what we could as he battled hard. Working his way forward, he would end his night with a 13th place finish.

“Stockton was a tough night for everyone, but my guys worked hard and did all they could with the hand we were dealt,” Forsberg said. “It was a long one for sure, but we survived, ran well on Wednesday and get to do it all over this weekend.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
