PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to work and make improvements on the GUTS No. 16, Andy Gregg would finish 10th during Friday night’s Nor-Cal Posse Shootout opener at Placerville Speedway.

“We have been working hard, and we came out Friday night and went out late for time trials but still laid down a great lap in time trials, and ran well all night,” Gregg said. “Saturday night we were in a good spot but some early bad luck ended our night early.”

Timing the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed No. 16 machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials, the Diamond Springs, CA driver finished fifth in his heat race.

Sitting ninth in points after heats, Gregg would miss out on the pole shuffle, but had enough to transfer into the feature event directly where he would line up in the ninth starting position.

When the race came to life, Gregg would run in 10th as he battled with Greg DeCaires for position for much of the first half of the race as the two veterans exchanged the 10th spot lap after lap.

Getting as high as ninth at one point during the feature event, Gregg would cap a strong night in the 10th spot, that set him up nicely in points for Saturday’s program.

Sitting eighth in points, Gregg would finish second in his first heat race and fourth in his second heat and that would earn him enough points to move into the Pole Shuffle.

Falling to Cory Eliason in his shuffle round, Gregg would end up taking the green flag for the 40-lap affair from the second row. When the race came to life, Gregg would have some bad luck on the sixth lap that saw him bring out a caution, and the ensuing restart would see him get collected in another incident that brought his night to an end.

“We tweaked on our engine in our off weeks, and it seemed to be a lot better this weekend, and that is a good feeling with some big races still to come,” Gregg said. “Thanks to my guys for all of their hard work, and thank you to our partners who make this all possible.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and MF Inc. for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Gregg will get back to racing this Friday and Saturday night as he is set to invade the Silver Dollar Speedway for the Fall Nationals.
