Andy Gregg 13th at Placerville Speedway; Mark Forni Classic On Tap

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg would get in one final night of action on the bullring before this weekend’s Mark Forni Classic, and event that is a staple at the speedway and a race that Gregg has previously won.

“It has been a weird year for us, and it was good to get into the feature and make some laps to prepare for this weekend’s Forni,” Gregg said. “We have been really fast, just things have continued to happen and on Saturday we had some more bad luck kind of hinder our result.”

Timing the GUTS/LAL Motorsports/Crane Inspection Agency No. 16x machine in sixth fastest in time trials, the Placerville, CA driver would overcome a heat race spin and tally a third-place finish.

Having a little luck on his side, Gregg would sneak into the redraw where the one pill put him on the pole for the 25-lap Prelude to the Forni feature event.

Following pre feature track prep, Gregg would slip back to fourth as he was a little tight on the extremely fast Placerville Speedway surface. As the track blew off after the re-work, Gregg would continue battle inside the Top-5 during the first half of the race.

On the race’s 14th lap, contact from another driver would send Gregg spinning off the speedway and he would bring out the caution and go all the way back to 19th.

Over the course of the final 10-laps, Gregg would work his way back forward a few positions and he closed his night out with a 13th place finish.

“We kind of got the raw end of a deal there around the halfway point, but still it was good to know we had a good car,” Gregg said. “Looking forward to running the Forni this weekend and hoping we can continue to be fast.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, LAL Motorsports, Crane Inspection Agency, Meyers and Son Drywall, Sierra Ice, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2020.
