PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to racing after health issues ended his 2016 season early, Andy Gregg took on the new Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Antioch, CA and recorded a 19th place finish.

“It was nice to get back in the car Saturday night, and get back to racing,” Gregg said. “We have another great team in place for 2017, and I have to thank everyone for their support.”

Timing the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed No. 16 machine in third fastest in his qualifying group, the driver who calls Diamond Springs, CA home would line up on the front row of his heat race.

A slight bobble on the start of his heat would cost ‘Guts’ a few positions, but the veteran wheelman was able to stay inside the top-three and earn the all important transfer position to the 30-lap feature event.

After a long wait until the “A”, Gregg would line his Ice House Resort/CTL Forest Management/ARP Enterprises sprinter up in the eighth row of the feature event. On a tricky racing surface, Gregg would bring out a yellow on the 15th lap and be forced to the rear of the field.

Trying to make something happen from the back of the pack, Gregg would be forced back to the pit area on the 23rd lap and would be credited with a 19th place finish.

“Overall I think we had some good speed, but I showed some signs of rust and cost our team a little bit,” Gregg said. “I am already excited to get back to the track in two weeks and try again with the SCCT.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and MF Inc. for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Gregg will be back on action with the SCCT on April 15th in Placerville, CA.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-1, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-0
