PETERSEN MEDIA: Fighting drizzly weather conditions on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg had an eventful night that saw him fight his way to a 12th place finish.
“We had pretty good speed in the feature event, but we had to come from the back after getting into an incident early, and with the track being pretty locked down and narrow we were still able to make up some ground and salvage a 12th place finish.”
Going out early in time trials on a track that was still a little greasy from rain showers earlier in the day, Gregg would end up timing the GUTS/Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Angius and Terry LLP backed No. 16 machine in 10th fastest.
Finishing second in his heat race, Gregg would line up in the sixth row for the 25-lap feature event. With the track still fast for the A main, Gregg was able to work into the Top-10 as he ran in the eighth spot.
With a car getting out of shape in front of him, Gregg would have nowhere to go and would find himself collected in the wreck. Able to restart, Gregg would restart from the 17th position.
Being patient on the tricky surface, Gregg would get his ARP Enterprises/Capitol Ace Hardware/Nu Gen Landscape machine headed in the right direction as he carefully fought through dense traffic.
Making up some ground, Gregg would end up taking he checkered flag with a 12th place finish.
“We just seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Gregg said. “Despite having more bad luck we were able to pick up a few positions in the points, and that is great for the team and our partners. We will keep at it, and see if we can’t have some things go our way and get this car up front.”
