PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg was able to put together his best night of his young 2017 season.

“We had a good night,” Andy Gregg said. “We hadn’t been bad all year, but we really didn’t have anything to show for it, so to go out and move forward and get a Top-Five is a good thing.”

Checking in at Placerville Speedway for the track’s annual “Big Trophy Night’, Gregg would get his night started off by timing the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed No. 16 sprinter in eighth fastest in time trials.

Lining up third in his heat race, the Diamond Springs, CA racer would pick up a spot as he would finish in the second spot.

Just narrowly missing out on a berth in the nightly redraw, Gregg would line the Ice House Resort/CTL Forest Management/ARP Enterprise machine up in the fifth row for the 25-lap feature event.

On the high banked ¼ mile speedway, Gregg was able to work his way forward as he attacked the top of the speedway. Racing with the likes of Steven Tiner and Matt Peterson at times during the race, Gregg would carve his way up to the fifth spot in the race’s closing laps.

Chasing after Andy Forsberg and Jimmy Trulli who ran in third and fourth just ahead of him, Gregg would close in on them as they batted themselves but was unable to get to them before the checkered flag flew and ended up with a fifth place finish.

“We were mistake free for the most part, and didn’t get collected in any wrecks, and we were able to run well,” Gregg said. “I think we are pretty good if we can keep the bad luck away.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and MF Inc. for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Gregg will now follow the SCCT to Stockton, CA on Saturday night.
