PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Placerville, CA, Andy Gregg would rebound from an early tip over in the feature event to come home with his fifth Top-10 finish of the season by way of his seventh place finish.

“I really have to thank my crew for their hard work on Saturday,” Andy Gregg said. “We got upside down early in the feature and they did a great job of fixing what they could and getting us back on track. Fortunately we were able to put some good laps together and fight back and finish seventh.”

Timing the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol ACE Hardware entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials, the Diamond Springs, CA driver would line up in the second row of the night’s second heat race.

Needing to finish inside the Top-Four to earn a berth in the redraw, Gregg would do just that by way of a fourth place finish. Moving into the redraw, Lady Luck would not be on the local driver’s side as the eight pill placed him in the fourth row to start the 25-lap feature event.

A lap three restart would be unkind to Gregg as he would get upside down in turn two and the red flag would be needed. Going to the work area, the GUTS Racing crew would go to work and make some repairs to the No. 16 machine and he would be able to restart the race from the tail but still had a broken ladder a slew of bent parts to deal with.

Despite the damage, Gregg would look good from the back of the pack. Taking advantage of a few of the restarts that were needed on this night, Gregg was able to quickly work his way back into the Top-10 on the eighth lap.

Battling inside the Top-10 for the duration of the feature event, Gregg would continue to work his way forward as he got into seventh on a lap 18 restart. Once in seventh, Gregg would hold the position until the checkered flag flew.

“It was nice to salvage our night a little bit,” Gregg said. “It was a wild feature event, and fortunately it gave us some opportunities to work our way forward. Again, huge thanks to my guys and everyone that pitched in and helped us get back on the track.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.

ON TAP: Andy Gregg will now follow the Sprint Car Challenge Tour south this weekend as he will be in action with the series on Saturday night in Hanford, CA.
