Andy Gregg Records Top-5 at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Despite not getting his season kicked off until the end of June, Andy Gregg appears to be in Mid-Season form as he had a very strong run at Placerville Speedway that ended with a fourth place finish on Friday night.

“We keep getting better and better week in and week out,” Andy Gregg said. “We had a fast car tonight, and were right there all night long.”

Gregg was one of 23 drivers that checked into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night taking part in the track’s Legends Night, honoring stars and cars of years gone by.

Gregg, the Placerville, CA local, would get his night kicked off by timing the GUTS/Capitol Ace Hardware/Crane Inspection Agency backed No. 16x entry in eighth fastest before powering to a win in his heat race.

Moving into the nightly redraw, Gregg was pleased with his draw as the six pill was a nice reprieve from his normal 7 or 8 draw.

Placing him in the third row to start the 25-lap feature event, Gregg would make a nice move on the start of the race to propel himself up to third as he chased after Kalib Henry and Mike Benson.

Able to get by Benson and move into second, Gregg would start to apply pressure to Henry who was pounding the cushion in front of him. Seeing Henry get tight on the cushion a few laps in a row, Gregg would dip low and look to take advantage of the situation only to see the yellow flag fly on the 19thlap and really change the complexion of his race.

The ensuing restart would see him look to make a bid for the top spot, but track positioning would see him give up a couple of positions as he slipped back to fourth, where he would go on to finish.

“The veteran in me saw him make a couple of mistakes on the cushion so I moved down, but the caution came out and then really changed the outlook of my race,” Gregg said. “Still great to come away with a Top-Five, but hopefully now with our engine figured out we can get this thing up a few more spots.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Capitol ACE Hardware, Crane Inspection Agency, Sierra Ice, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2019.

ON TAP: Andy Gregg will be back in action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
