PETERSEN MEDIA: Retuning to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night one week after rainout, Andy Gregg had a very good run going until contact in traffic would see his machine flip violently down the front stretch on the 11th circuit.

“We had a really good night going, and had an awesome car but unfortunately it did not end how we would have liked,” Andy Gregg explained. “My crew did a great job, and really had the car working. It is just unfortunate the way our night ended.”

With 24 cars on hand at the high-banked ¼ mile Placerville Speedway, Gregg got his night off to a hot start as he timed the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Angius and Terry LLP/ARP Enterprises No. 16 machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, the Placerville, CA driver would line up in the fourth row for the 25-lap A Main Event after the redraw. When the race went green, Gregg flexed his muscle as he quickly worked into the third spot and began chasing down the lead duo of Rico Abreu and Jonathan Allard.

As he diced through traffic looking to make a move, contact would a slower car would send Gregg upside down numerous times, and though he escaped without injury it would bring the end to what was shaping up to be a very good night.

“It is disappointing, but it happens in this sport,” Gregg said. “We will take this week off for sure to regroup and our car fixed and put back together. I have to thank all of the people who support this race team, and my guys for their hard work.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Angius and Terry LLP, ARP Enterprises, Capitol Ace Hardware, New Gen Landscape, K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, FK Shocks, Wilwood, Arnold’s For Awards, CTL Forest Management, Empire Works, Ice House Resort, Ervin Sales, EMI, Watson Cattle, Wally’s Pizza Bar, Myers and Sons Dry Wall, K&T Custom Fab, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and Nail It Roofing  for their support in 2016.
