PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting the call to shake down Johnny Sullivan’s No. 25 entry at the Stockton Dirt Track, Andy Gregg surpassed expectations as he would finish third on Saturday night and share the podium with Andy Forsberg and Rico Abreu.

“I really don’t know what to say,” Gregg said with a smile. “These guys called me and asked if I would run this car for them and work out any bugs we could find. There was no question we were under powered, but we had a great time and had a really great showing.”

Saturday night saw Gregg time the Sullivan owned No. 25 machine in 11th quickest in qualifying time trials before finishing in the third spot during heat racing action.

Failing to make the Dash, Gregg would grid the field from the sixth row on a track that was extremely racy on both nights. The slick surface played to Gregg’s favor as his car had much less power than some engines in the field, and the slick surface evened things out to an extent.

Working his way forward into the top-five, Gregg would use a late restart to get by Colby Copeland and Blake Robertson to get into the third spot, and close out his weekend with a pretty memorable finish.

Gregg was also in action on Friday night, and like Saturday qualified 11th fastest before going on to win his heat race.

Having issues in the Dash, Gregg would slip back front his second starting spot to finish eighth, which would line him up in the fourth row of the 30-lap feature event.

After spinning his machine out on the second lap, Gregg would go to the back of the pack, and work his way forward against some stiff competition. Simply putting his machine where there was open real estate, Gregg would work his way back towards the near the Top-10, as he rallied to finish in the 12th spot.

“We really didn’t come into the weekend with any expectations, and to run like we did is pretty cool considering the field of cars that were here,” Gregg added. “I really have to thank Johnny Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, and Catherine Sullivan for the chance to race, and all of their help.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Angius and Terry LLP, ARP Enterprises, Capitol Ace Hardware, Nail Nu Gen Landscape, K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, FK Shocks, Wilwood, Arnold’s For Awards, and Nail It Roofing  for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Gregg looks to return to racing when the Placerville Speedway season opens on Aprils 2nd.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-2, Wins0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1
