PETERSEN MEDIA: Sneaking in just one weekend of racing during a busy month of May, Andy Gregg returned to action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway where he would land on the podium by way of a third place finish.

“It was kind of a bummer work and personal life took me away from racing in May, because we really hit on some things at the end of April,” Gregg said. “Fortunately for me my guys were able to mirror what we had been doing and we had a great car on Saturday night.”

Going out first in time trials with 24 cars checked into the pit area, Gregg would set the standard early and it would hold up as he earned quick time honors aboard the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware No. 16 machine.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Diamond Springs, CA pilot would make sure to transfer as his fourth place finish moved him directly to the feature event and qualified him for the Top-Eight redraw.

Having some decent luck in the draw, Gregg would find himself with the four pill which placed him in the second row for the 25-lap finale.

On a surface gave some drivers fits, Gregg was able to keep his machine pointed in the right direction all night long as he ran solidly inside the Top-Five as he chased after the likes of Jimmy Trulli, and Justyn Cox.

Numerous restarts would see Gregg also encounter challenges from the likes of Sean Becker and Andy Forsberg, but he continued to run well as he chased after the leaders.

A late botched restart moved Gregg to the front row with just five laps to go. Starting alongside Jimmy Trulli, the inside would prove to be a challenging place to restart and Gregg would slip back to third.

As he chased after Becker and Trulli, Gregg ended his night with his third consecutive Top-Five finish.

“I really have to thank Zac, Robert, Gage, Matt for their hard work,” Gregg said. “It was great getting back to Placerville for the first time since March, and I am looking forward to seeing if we can get a couple of spots better this week.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.
