PETERSEN MEDIA: Lucas Ashe made the trip to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night and tasted a little bit of both worlds as he competed but also made the calls on his setup all night long.

“It was a unique experience driving, and making all my own calls,” Lucas Ashe said. “I had fun with it, learned from some mistakes and managed to come home with a sixth place finish.”

Timing the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center/SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil backed No. 33 machine in 10th quickest in qualifying time trials, Ashe turned in a nice performance in his heat race.

Battling up front all race long, Ashe would slip up over the cushion on the race’s last lap and end up taking the checkered flag with a third place finish. Moving into the 25-lap feature event, the Cottonwood, CA driver would roll off the starting grid from the 10th starting position.

On the hooked up and fast Petaluma Speedway, Ashe would find himself to be too tight once the race came to life. Though his car wasn’t how he had hoped it would be, Ashe would continue to work hard on the tricky racing surface.

Able to avoid a couple of messes that broke out in front of him, Ashe would soon find himself just outside the Top-Five and looking for a way to breakthrough. Giving it a valiant effort, Ashe would close his night out with a sixth place finish.

“We had a really fast car, just missed it a little in the feature but I know there is going to be a learning curve,” Ashe added. “All in all it was a fun night. We had Michael Tarter with us lending a hand and his positive energy is awesome. I’m looking forward to getting back in an Outlaw Kart the next couple of weeks and continuing to have some fun.”

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, Triple X Race Co., DMI Components, VSR, Factory QRC, Shaver Racing Engines, Rod End Supply, Fat Cat Propane, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
