PETERSEN MEDIA- Capping 2022 with a busy week at the Tulsa Shootout, Ashton Torgerson was able to race his way into the Outlaw Non-Winged feature event and tally a seventh-place finish.
Taking part in Winged and Non-Winged action at the Tulsa Shootout in the A-Class, Stock, and Outlaw Divisions, Torgerson was strong all week, but had the best week in Outlaw Non-Winged action.
Racing to a second-place finish from his eighth starting spot in the Outlaw Non-Winged Heat, Torgerson moved into a qualifier in his Rowdy Energy backed No. 02 and picked up a win from the pole.
With his win and his points from his heat, the Medford, OR driver locked directly into Saturday’s feature event where he took the green flag from the eighth starting position.
Late in the day on Saturday’s Championship finale, track prep was the theme and it created for tricky surfaces in the feature event. With passing tough in the ‘A’, Torgerson continue to show the same speed he displayed all week as he battled inside the Top-10.
With the race ripping of laps quickly, Torgerson took the checkered flag with a seventh-place finish.
Outlaw Winged action got off to a great start for Torgerson as well, as he took advantage of his front row starting position in his heat. Picking up the win, Torgerson wasn’t able to tally a ton of points based on his starting position but did all that he could based on his draw.
Locking into a qualifier, Torgerson’s third place finish put him in a Saturday night ‘B’, where he would race to a win before ending his Winged Outlaw Tulsa Shootout with a 14th place finish in the Last Chance Qualifier.
Going from seventh to fifth in his ‘A’ Class Winged heat, Torgerson would move into a ‘C’ main, where he just narrowly missed a transfer to the ‘B’ and settled for a third-place result.
The fourth and final class he was in action in at the Tulsa Shootout was in Stock Class Non Winged entry, and he flirted with racing in the feature event in this class as well.
Running second in his heat race from the eighth staring position, Torgerson lined his Rowdy Energy No. 02 machine up third in his qualifier and ended up finishing third. Locking into a Saturday night ‘B’, Torgerson would pick up the win, just as he did in ‘A’ Class Winged “B” Main action, and in the LCQ he would have issues as he would not finish the race and end his Stock Non-Winged Shootout.
When it was all said and done, Torgerson would cap his Shootout off with the aforementioned seventh place run in Non-Winged Outlaw competition.
