PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to his roots over the weekend, Ashton Torgerson climbed back aboard the family owned Micro 600 and picked up a pair of Top-5 finishes as he now turns his attention to the family owned Sprint Car this Saturday night.
Checking in at Adobe Mountain Speedway for the Steffey Memorial over the weekend, Torgerson competed in Non-Winged Outlaws action on Friday night and picked up a second-place finish before bolting the wing on Saturday night and finishing fourth.
Friday night, the younger of the Torgerson brothers opened the weekend up by drawing the pole for his heat race in Non-Winged Outlaws action. Getting the jump when the race came to life, Torgerson never looked back as he picked up the win and moved into the feature event.
Lining up on the front row of the feature, Torgerson settled into second as the race came to life. Battling hard with fellow micro ace, Michael Faccinto, the duo put on an exciting show as they were very strong out front.
Unable to get by Faccinto and contend for the win, Torgerson settled for second as he turned his attention to winged action on Saturday night and also took part in Non-Winged ‘A’ Class competition.
Hopping in his brothers No. 88 entry in ‘A’ Class festivities, Torgerson went from sixth to fifth in his heat race before advancing from third to win the ‘B’ and ultimately finishing 13th in the feature event.
Winged Outlaw action saw Torgerson time in second quick in time trials, before finishing second in his heat race. Moving into the pole shuffle, Torgerson’s fourth place finish put him in the second row of the Steffey Memorial finale.
Settling into the fourth position when the race came to life, Torgerson did have an early misstep that saw him slip back to fifth on the sixth lap. With passing extremely tough on the final night of the two-day show, Torgerson spent much of the race trying to work his way back into fourth.
Battling hard, Torgerson was able to make his move back into fourth on the 21st lap. Maintaining the position for the final four laps, Torgerson capped his weekend off with a fourth-place finish.
