PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending Thanksgiving in Ventura, CA for the Turkey Night Grand Prix, Austin Liggett would have a great couple of days culminating with a fourth place finish in Sprint Car action, before locking into his first Turkey Night Grand Prix with the USAC National Midget Series.

“It was a great couple of days,’ Austin Liggett said. “We locked into Thursday’s sprint car feature with our Wednesday night performance and with us able to focus on the midget for the better part of Thursday night we overcame an early set back and I locked into the feature in what was my first try.”

Piloting the Britton Bock owned midget, Liggett and team would have some issues during time trials that resulted in a 31st quick effort amongst the 61 drivers checked into the prestigious event.

Finishing sixth in his qualifier, the Tracy, CA driver would move into the Last Chance Showdown where he chased after a ticket into the 98-lap feature event. Running a smooth LCS, Liggett would thrill the crowd as he made a last lap, last corner pass to earn the final transfer position into the ‘A’.

Locking into his first Turkey Night Grand Prix, Liggett would take the green from the back of the pack, and would do what he could against a talented field of drivers, until pulling in on the 50th lap as he went down a lap to the leaders.

“It was an accomplishment in itself to make the feature in my first go at it going against some really talented teams and drivers,” Liggett noted.

Following a sixth place finish in Wednesday night’s Fast Dash in Sprint Car action, Liggett would take the green flag from the third row for the 30-lap Battle at the Beach feature event.

Mixing it up with drivers like CJ Leary, Carson Macedo, and Geoff Ensign, the 2018 USAC West Coast Champion would close his season out with his 13th Top-5 of the year as he finished in the fourth position.

“I have to thank Britton Bock for the opportunity to wheel his midget, and I also have to thank my parents, Landon, Angela, Matt and Aly for their help over a busy two days.”

Austin Liggett Racing would like to thank Excel Environmental Services, Lucas Oil, Hurst Fabrications, Infinity Shocks, 4 Alarm Promotions, Epic Fire Apparel, and Jarrett Soares Racing for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-25, Wins-3, Top 5’s-13, Top 10’s-15

ON TAP: Liggett’s 2018 season has concluded but his 2019 season will get underway in January during the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.
