PETERSEN MEDIA: Having an up and down Oval Nationals over the weekend, Austin Liggett has already turned his attention to Turkey Night in Ventura, CA where he will be in the Britton Bock owned midget as well as the Austin Liggett Racing non-winged sprint car.

“Oval’s was tough on us, we just didn’t seem to have any speed no matter what we did,” Ligget said. “Saturday we were able to race our way into the 40-lap feature event but an oil leak caused a little fire and forced us to end our night early.”

Finishing eighth in the Thursday night ‘B’ Main, Liggett would bounce back looking for a big points night on Friday night as he timed the Excel Environmental Services/Lucas Oil/Hurst Fabrications backed No. 83 machine in 27th quickest in time trials.

Scoring a fourth place finish in his heat race, the Tracy, CA driver would transfer directly to the feature event where he would take the green flag from the 24th starting position.

Lining up scratch on the field, Liggett would do all he could to make his way forward as he also fought to not lose a lap too early. When the checkered flag flew on this night, Liggett would finish 19th.

After timing in 23rd fastest on Saturday night, Liggett’s fifth place finish put him in the first semi where his third place finish transferred him into the Oval Nationals feature event.

Lining up in the 21st starting position, Liggett’s night would be cut short as an oil leak would develop under the hood of his car and a flame up would force him into the pit area with just 13 laps complete, ending his night.

“It just was one of those weekends where nothing really went our favor, and that is okay,” Liggett added. “We have a fun couple of days coming up in Ventura, CA and I am looking forward to doing a little double duty.”

Austin Liggett Racing would like to thank Excel Environmental Services, Lucas Oil, Hurst Fabrications, Infinity Shocks, 4 Alarm Promotions, Epic Fire Apparel, and Jarrett Soares Racing for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-23, Wins-3, Top 5’s-12, Top 10’s-14

ON TAP: Liggett returns to action next Wednesday and Thursday in Ventura, CA taking part in the Turkey Night Grand Prix.
