PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Delta Speedway in Stockton, CA over the weekend, Austin Torgerson would slowly be in Non-Winged action for the Turkey Bowl, and he showed out as he capped a solid weekend off with a second place finish during Saturday’s feature event.
Running a draw show format over the weekend, Torgerson drew the 11 pill and lined up on the front row of his heat race aboard the Safety-Kleen backed No. 88. Running second in his heat race, Torgerson moved into his qualifier where he again put himself on the front row.
Qualifier action went much like his heat race did, and Torgerson settled into second as he chased after the race leader. Keeping Brian Gilbert in his crosshairs, Torgerson’s second place finish set him up nicely for Saturday night’s feature event.
Lining up on the pole of the 40-lap feature event, the Medford, OR driver found himself in a torrid battle with Niko Panella for the duration of the race.
Though Panella got the jump over Torgerson as the race came to fruition, Torgerson stayed with Panella every step of the way. Battling hard over the course of the 40-lap affair, Torgerson would make a couple attempts at the race lead, but Panella would answer each and every call.
When the action paced feature came to a close, Torgerson capped his 2022 Turkey Bowl off with a runner up finish.
ON TAP: Austin Torgerson will be idle this weekend but will return to action in Glendale, AZ November 11th and 12th.
