Austin Torgerson Back in Victory Lane at Plaza Park

PETERSEN MEDIA- Dabbling between Micro Sprints, Midgets, and 360ci Sprint Cars, Austin Torgerson is staying plenty active in 2024, and the Glendale, AZ driver is continuing to have success has he picked up the win in Winged competition Friday night at Plaza Park in Visalia, CA.

Running a dual heat format in the Winged 600 class on Friday night, Torgerson raced his way to a second place finish in his first 10-lap heat, and was event better in his second go, as he picked up the win.

Locking onto the pole for the 30-lap feature event, Torgerson looked very strong in his Safety-Kleen backed No. 88 entry.

When the race came to life, Torgerson got the jump over Michael Faccinto as they duo jockeyed for position on the rough and tumble Plaza Park surface.

Getting int traffic, the duo would battle side by side, and a slower car allowed Faccinto to power past Torgerson and drop him back to second.

Running in second, Torgerson kept Faccinto in his crosshairs, and was able to return the favor in traffic in the waning laps of the event. With Faccinto pinched behind a slower car, Torgerson went high and was able to power into the lead which he never relinquished as he went on to score his sixth feature event win of the season.

Also competing in Non-Winged action on Friday night, Torgerson went from third to second in his first heat race, before a fourth place finish from the fifth starting position in his second heat race.

Moving into the feature event, Torgerson gridded the field from the eighth starting position. Spending much of the night battling inside the Top-10, he wasn’t able to make that run through the field that he had hoped.

Trying a few things on the tricky surface that was offered up on Friday night, Torgerson ultimately ended the non-winged feature with a 10th place finish.

ON TAP: Austin Torgerson is scheduled to compete at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night, and Placerville Speedway on Saturday.
