PETERSEN MEDIA- Having an extremely strong start to his 2023 Micro season, Austin Torgerson tackled a new challenge over the past weekend as he made his first ever start in a winged 360ci Sprint Car at Placerville Speedway.
Checking in at Placerville Speedway this past Saturday night, Torgerson was set to go in his Torgerson Racing No. 88 entry against a very strong field of 35 Sprint Cars checked in for a night of racing and getting the feel for the bigger car.
Timing in 29th fastest in qualifying time trials, the Medford, OR driver moved into heat race action where he continued to focus on completing all the laps and getting comfortable.
Starting and finishing eighth in the eight-lap event, Torgerson moved into the 12-lap ‘B’ where he lined up in the 13thstarting position.
In a wild and crazy ‘B’, Torgerson was able to pick up a few positions as he worked around the high banked bullring in Northern California. Getting into 11th on the fifth lap, Torgerson would slip back to 12th for a couple of laps.
With a couple of cars getting together in front of him in the race’s closing laps, Torgerson was able to take advantage as he moved up to 11th, where he went on to cap off his Sprint Car debut.
ON TAP: Austin Torgerson will shift back to his Micro this weekend as he heads to Lemoore, CA for the Jet Bowl on Friday and Saturday night.
