Austin Torgerson Scores Top-Five at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to go back and forth between his micro and 360 winged sprint car, Austin Torgerson was back aboard the Safety-Kleen/C&K Towing backed winged 360 over the weekend and after missing the Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature on Friday night, Torgerson worked his way forward and tallied a fifth place finish on Friday night in Marysville, CA.

Taking on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Friday at Placerville Speedway to open up the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial, Torgerson timed the Safety-Kleen/C&K Towing backed No. 88 in sixth fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Torgerson battled hard for the final transfer position into the feature event on a slick racing surface. Amidst a three-car battle for fifth, Torgerson ended up in seventh as the race ended and was in the 15-lap ‘B’.

With four transfer positions up for grabs in the ‘B’, Torgerson’s sixth place starting position put him in the mix as he raced with the likes of Bubba DeCaires and Gauge Garcia.

Holding his own with a couple of fellow youngsters, Torgerson remained in the mix all race long, but came up just short as he finished seventh and brough his night to an end.

Returning to winged 360 action on Saturday night, Austin and the Torgerson Racing team checked in at Marysville Raceway to cap of a doubleheader weekend of action.

With a total of 25 cars checked in, Torgerson timed in 20th fast and had some ground to make up in his heat race.

Picking up a fourth-place finish in his heat, Torgerson was locked into the 25-lap feature event. The start of the feature was troublesome as a couple of big wrecks changed the complexation of the race before a lap was completed.

Able to keep his nose relatively clean, Torgerson went to work when the action finally came to life. Slowly working his way forward, Torgerson found his groove on the ¼ mile.

Racing through the Top-10, Torgerson continued to battle forward as he worked into fifth late, and claimed his first career Winged Sprint Car Top-Five in his first ever appearance at Marysville Raceway.

ON TAP: Austin Torgerson now heads east for micro competition. He will be a Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, KS on Wednesday Night, Creed County Speedway in Oklahoma on Thursday, Red Dirt Raceway in Oklahoma on Friday, and Por City Raceway in Oklahoma on Saturday night as he takes part in Sooner 600 Week.
