PETERSEN MEDIA- After getting in a vicious wreck a couple of weeks ago, Cody Lamar was able to return to action on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Stockton, CA where he would have some bad luck again as he would be collected in an early wreck.
“We got off to a really good start to the night,’ Cody Lamar said. “We got into the feature, and lost some spots early and then a wreck happened right in front of me and I had nowhere to go and got in on the action and ended our night.”
Earning quick time honors in his qualifying group with 53 cars checked in for the Jimmy Sills Classic, Lamar would line the A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance backed No. 9L entry up in the second row of his heat race.
Racing to a third place finish, Lamar would move into the Dash where a ninth place finish put him in the fifth row for the 30-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, Lamar would drop out of the Top-10 as he struggle to acclimate to the tricky surface that was presented to the field. Falling back as far as 20th, Lamar would stay calm as he searched for a line.
As he worked around the Stockton Dirt Track, trouble would strike on the race’s 11th lap as cars got together in front of him. With no where to go, Lamar’s mount would get in on the incident and endure some damage that would bring his night to a close.
“It was a frustrating way to end our night,’ Lamar said. “Hopefully we can keep the early speed up again this weekend at the Asparagus Cup, but keep it going through the feature and make some noise. Thanks to everyone who continues to help out and support our race program.”
